ABOUT THE ROLE

Overview

The Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF) Parliaments Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the work of the Climate Vulnerable Forum’s newly created Parliaments work stream. They will plan out and coordinate the activities under this work stream and manage the team. They will advise the CVF Global Parliamentary Group and drive the development of the work stream.

This role is within the CVF & V20 Support Program and reports to the CVF&V20 Support Program Head.

Areas of responsibility

As detailed below, the Workstream Coordinator will assume and exercise leadership in the field of climate change legislation to drive the effective implementation of the CVF Global Parliamentary Group’s (GPG) work, including in the following areas:

  • Plan and coordinate the CVF GPG program and its activities, under the supervision of the Support Program Head (e.g., ensure the organization of events, support document publication, manage communications, etc.).
  • Act as advisor of the CVF GPG and its members on matters related to climate change legislation.
  • Act as primary focal point and spokesperson of the CVF GPG and its members for internal and external stakeholders (e.g., parliamentarians, Inter-Parliamentary Union, etc.).
  • Drive development and partner relations management for the advancement of all legislative initiatives of the CVF Global Parliamentary Group and partnerships endorsed by the group or under development.
  • Manage and supervise the support program team of the CVF GPG, either directly or by delegation to personnel, whether institutionally housed at our partnering organization or other institutions (e.g., staff, consultants, interns, secondees, etc.).
  • Lead the organization of GPG events.
  • Lead the organization of GPG thematic and technical studies in support of GPG’s mission.

Additionally, the Workstream Coordinator may be requested to perform any other relevant tasks as directed by the Support Program Head, according to evolving CVF GPG needs.


Job requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 8 years experience in a field related to environmental/climate legislation and/or supporting the work of parliamentarians in developing countries and/or CVF member countries;
  • Experience coordinating and leading a team;
  • Knowledge of program management and development procedures;
  • Experience in an international organization, the non-profit sector and/or working in or with least developed countries and/or small island developing States;
  • Knowledge of climate change legislation, environmental protection policy, sustainable development, international relations and related themes;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint);
  • Ability to work with diverse and multi-disciplinary teams;
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills;
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills;
  • Detail-oriented and efficient;
  • English proficiency; proficiency in other languages prevalent in CVF countries an asset.
